The Weight of Warmth

The Weight of Warmth explores the often-overlooked labour behind moments of warmth, care, and togetherness through the setting of a Chinese New Year’s Eve dinner table.
Using ceramics and moving image, the work recreates a familiar domestic scene filled with food, celebration, and shared rituals.
Through repetitive acts of preparation, maintenance, and care, the project reflects on how the warmth of a home is not naturally formed, but continuously created and maintained over time through the ongoing support, effort, care, and time shared between family members.
The work is not intended to reject tradition or criticise anyone, but rather to encourage people to notice the forms of labour and effort that are often overlooked, and to reflect on how the feeling of home is sustained through collective care and support.
